This past weekend we received our trees from Denver Digs Trees provided by The Park People.
Denver Digs Trees supports residents in cultivating a greener, healthier and more livable urban environment. This program is free to those is certain neighborhoods, or only $25/tree for those residing outside of those boundaries.
We happen to live right outside of the 'supported' neighborhood, but we were able to buy 2 amazing trees for $50! I will be honest, I didn't know what to expect when we picked up the trees on Saturday. I was hoping they were at least taller than me so they would be strong enough to survive the winter. To my surprise, the trees were VERY healthy, trunks roughly 6" diameter, and probably 9'-0" tall! We planted both of our maples out front since the yard was looking a little bare, and we are both so happy with our new addition to the house.
The Fall program is over, but you can register for the Spring program here come December. The benefit of the Fall program is that you can plant the shade tree ANYWHERE on your property (we didn't take advantage of that). The Spring program is strictly for street trees only (between the sidewalk and street).
Here is shot of our front yard when we bought our house in February.....sooo sooo sad looking.
And here we are now!....

go for it!!! Trees grow really quickly and become the barometer of how long you have lived in a home. Love your blog
