Dwell Studio at Target

Dwell is typically known for their high end, fabulous bedding designs (and other goods). While browsing the isles of Target the other week I came upon their NEW line....Dwell Studio for Target! The patterns are identical to their high end line, and not only is it for adults, but babies too!

This has always been one of my favorite patterns - organic yet modern.

I bought this fabulous pillow for our sofa for $25. It's faux silk, the pattern is printed on both sides, and it has a zipper so you can remove the cover to clean it! How RARE is that!

Smell This

I know...call me crazy. I am blogging about a candle, but I couldn't resist sharing this with everyone. I think finding the right candle with THAT perfect scent is really hard. Then, beyond the scent you need one that actually makes your WHOLE home smell amazing. Well...I have found it. Jayson Home and Garden sells their signature scent which combines fresh cut grass, thyme, and verbena. I am ordering more today. Enjoy!

Puppy Love

I will admit, I stalk my wedding photographer's blog (Paige Elizabeth). I love seeing her updated photo shoots - it brings me back to our engagement shoot....so much fun! But I was googling over these pups. How adorable is the look on his face. Unfortunately all I have is a kitty who I don't think would want to participate in a photo shoot like this. Sorry Paige. :(

A 'Green' Crush

This is one dreamy house.....soft, warm, and all the wood! Even better, this house is so efficient you can practically live for free! Check out the whole story on Southern Living. Yes, I just posted about them on Tuesday, but I couldn't resist this story.

This fireplace is just gorgeous. I love the variety of color in the wood...

Nap time anyone?....

My Saddest Day yet.....

Yes, it's true.....their last issue will be March 2009. I feel like a chapter has closed in my life.....

Decorative Solar Lights

These little dragonflies are solar powered and can be used anywhere in your garden (sun needed obviously). My mother has these in her garden, and guest are always amused when they see glowing dragonflies changing colors at night. I think these are a fabulous addition to any one's garden. You can check out these and other designs here.

A New Kitchen...on a budget.

So, we are finally under contract with the house and now we have the challenge of redoing the kitchen before we move in (the existing kitchen is the original 1950's style...so not very usable). But of course, since we hadn't been planning on purchasing a whole new kitchen before we bought this house, we will be designing on a budget. Luckily, I am prepared with numerous pictures of kitchens I have adored over the year. Enjoy!

...rich two tone

....contemporary and earthy....beautiful white counters offset with dark green/blackish cabinets.....my favorite.....white cabinets with amazing grey/beige granite counters that match the floors, it's so bright and cheery!......love the white wrap down counter contrasting with the dark counters and cabinets...bold!.....another favorite...light grey base cabinets with white uppers (My husband wants our new kitchen to look like this).....bright and cheery blue epoxy floors balanced with white cabinets....it makes you feel like you're near the ocean!

Buying a New Home

Everyone has been there, or will be there at some point in their life. Buying their FIRST home. My husband and I are going through this right now. We put an offer on an amazing property by Sloan's Lake, and we have now entered the 'Waiting Game'. It was an emotional weekend...well, for me at least. (Please note, the house above is not the house I am talking about) But, back to the point....buying a new home and getting a loan. I found this amazing post that I think describes it best....'A Step-by-Step Walk through of getting a Purchase Loan' thanks to Live - Urban Real Estate. I will keep ya'll updated on our 'hopefully soon to be' house!

Swank

Swank is a great boutique in a hip and up-coming area on 32nd and Zuni. They have a great selection of jeans, unique tops, sweaters, dresses and jewelry. Next door is a great coffee shop and across the street is the famous Pasquini's Pizzeria. I love this boutique because you know you will find one of a kind items that you won't see else where! Prices are mid-range. You can find a map and plenty of reviews here.

Light me UP!

Lighting is getting large these days....

Fabulously cheap copies....

...thanks to CB2 - this is actually 2'-0" tall!

...thanks to Pottery Barn....super-size shade!

...thanks to IKEA .

Don't trip!

When I saw these photos in Interior Design magazine (article here), my first thought was that the architecture is beautiful. My second thought, what if you tripped walking down these stairs! Like they say....beauty over pain, right?!

Design After Dark: VS

It's time again for the 5th annual Design After Dark, featuring this year's theme:VS (versus). DAD celebrates design in Colorado, while raising funds for The Department of Architecture, Design & Graphics at the Denver Art Museum. Some of Colorado’s most talented artists and designers have created – for auction! – dozens of fascinating objects, each inspired by a scintillating pairing of an object from the AD&G collection and a quote about opposites. The DAD committee has also scored some terrific items from well-known vendors and showrooms to round out the auction.

While you are contemplating your bids, you’ll enjoy a mouth-watering menu and and a tag-team of dynamite DJs. So come on: Dress to kill and come alive at DESIGN AFTER DARK: VS!

ATTIRE: Your highest heels and your lowest-cut gown; your biggest hair and your smallest dress; short-shorts and a long jacket. . . You get the idea.

The 1st LEED Prefabricated House in America

An architect of Studio H:T in Boulder built (or shall I say bought) this house for his family. If you ever want to build your own house, I would say this is the way to go. Buy it, have it trucked in, and in a few days your home is complete! You can check out photos of the process here or view the article in the Fall 2008 issue of Architect Colorado (sorry, no website).

Reusing those ugly kitchen cabinets...

You HAVE to see the before picture of this kitchen! It's a classic situation.....your new (old) house comes with a brand new kitchen, but the same ugly maple cabinets as everyone else. Boringgggg! You're on a budget and you want to be 'green', so instead of trashing those maple uglies, you re-vamp them into something new! I plan on doing this to my kitchen (when we get a house). Click here to check out the whole transformation on 'Urban Grace Interiors'....it's to die for.

Sanctuary Home

Sanctuary Home is filled with great gifts and other unexpected home collectibles that are mostly handmade. Even better, the owner makes custom upholstery pieces for very reasonable prices! The store is a little further North from the other Platte River shops (off of 15th), so make sure you take a few extra steps to check them out! Check out their web page here.

Big Ideas for a Small House

There are hundreds of words to describe this house, but most of all....ridiculously adorable! I was browsing through one of my favorite blogs, The Inspired Room, and came across a fun article, 'Small House? 10 Big Ideas'. So fitting for my husband and I....searching for a house in Highlands (known for small, old houses). Check out the entire article here. (I love the drawers built into the stairs. Hidden storage!)

Inspiration for the New Year

A few photos to get your creativity flowing in 2009.....

Love the wallpaper contrasting with the zebra rug.

so comfy, clean and simple.

love the bold, over sized lamps and yummy fall yellow paint color....

creative and bold hallway details.

I dream for this living room (I also dream for a grey mohair sofa!)

Happy New Year!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile! The 'winter work break' really got the best of me. :) I recently found this amazing photo to use for inspiration in a friend's guest room, so I thought I would share it with everyone else! Wouldn't this room make an amazing reading/lounge room. (Can you tell I LOVE the color green).
